I finally caved and got a facebook page

I resisted this for quite some time.  I feel that not many people really comment much anymore on the blog as they once did in the past.  I am guilty of this myself.  It is a lot easier for me to comment on Facebook and I like interacting with bloggers and learning more about them.  You can't really do that with the blogs.

I recently was talked into Instagram and I do love it.  I'm finding, however, that I only post the stuff I really love the most on there.  So?  What is the best approach?  I decided that I would continue to blog since I really love it and it's a great way to document what is going on in my life at the same time.  I will continue to do all my challenges on the blog.  I always stay in at least two at once.  Right now I am juggling three.  I will post day to day stuff on Facebook and the stuff I really love will be reserved for Instagram.  All of this is subject to change.  We will call it a work in progress.

In the meantime, you can still find me here at least 14 times a month.  Four weekly challenges with The Nail Challenge Collaborative.  Four weekly challenges with my East Coast crew on Facebook and five posts monthly with The Digit-al Dozen.  You can follow me on Instagram at Creativenaildesignbysue and on Facebook at Creative Nail Design By Sue.  Check me out and follow me so I don't feel like I am talking to myself.

Instagram Roundup

Here is a quick look at some of the nails I posted on Instagram that didn't make the blog since last month.  First is China Glaze Lemon Fizz topped with Smitten Pink Lemonade.  I did this for a challenge in my facebook group ECOPOLO.  The theme was summer glitter.  This was released last year but continues to be one of my favorites.

Next up was Ninja Polish Mystic Glacier.  I have wanted this one for a long time.  I decided to use Cult Nails Time Traveler for the base because I wanted to bring out the blue but it really acted as if the base was simply black.  Next time.....a lighter blue.

Next up was a Cult Nails combo.  This is Flushed with a reverse glitter gradient using Blaze.  Blaze is gorgeous.  They make a perfect pair because Flushed has some subtle gold shimmer mixed in.

And lastly, I did a watercolor manicure using my new Barry M Gelly polishes.  I bought them all and they are now one of my favorite brands.  That damn Debbie Crumpet sold me on them when I saw this post.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative-Neon Gradient

This is my fourth and final neon post.  I love them so much but can't really wear them to work because it doesn't go with much.  Also, I can't photograph them well no matter how hard I try.  This is a simple gradient using Color Club Koo-Koo Cahoo and China Glaze Sun Worshipper.  The accent is done with Color Club Poptastic.  This manicure was blinding because the neon was so bright.  This was the best I could do with the camera.

Digit-al Dozen Does Books-Pippi Longstocking

I recently ordered the whole set of Barry M Gelly polishes.  I am totally head over heels in love.  The colors are fantastic.  They
have great coverage with two thin coats and are super shiny with no need for top coats.  I added Pippi Longstocking here.

Digit-al Dozen Does Books-Curious George

Another quick post for book week.  I couldn't possibly leave out Curious George.  I love designs that go across multiple nails.  Tomorrow's post is my favorite.  I am saving the best for last.

Digit-al Dozen Does Books-The Rainbow Fish

I am totally in love with this book and with the cover.  Who doesn't like a combination of blues, purples and teals?  I did this whole manicure using only Zoya polishes.  I think ten total to be exact.  The base is a combination of sponged on Malia, Kristen and Jo.  I am really happy with how it came out.  The base almost looked like marble.

Digit-al Dozen Does Books-The Lorax

Quick post for today because I am short on time.  This should be obvious.  I recreated an image from The Lorax, one of my favorite animated films and children's books.

Digital Dozen Does Books-Corduroy

This was one of my all time favorite books growing up.  I just loved the story and Corduroy was such a cutie.  I simply tried to recreate that famous book cover.  I used a combination of sponging for the base color.  This is ManGlaze Butt Taco and Lesbihonest.  Pink and Orange are such a great combo.  The bear and title of the book are acrylic paint.

Nail Challenge Collaborative-Neon Flowers

I know I have said it a million times but neons are so tough to photograph.  This doesn't quite do these polishes justice.  T
hese are all by Color Club.  Base is Pink Satina and the flowers are Feelin' Groovy, Koo-Koo Cachoo and Poptastic.  Using my new set of Cheeky plates.

Essie Fun French

Nail It Magazine posted on Instagram asking for people to submit a funky French design.  I wasn't going to do one but I saw a rack of Essie Polishes at my Beauty Supply Store today and they called to me.  It was a unique combination of colors that were all placed on the same rack and I thought they went well together.
I don't generally buy Essie Polishes because they don't dry well on me but I figured I would give the formula another try.  I do love the bottle shape and the brushes.  The base polish here is two coats of Essie using My Maiden Name.  This is gorgeous.  I am so glad that I captured the pinkish shimmer in these pictures.
The tips are done with a combination of Essie Polishes, The More The Merrier, Go Ginza, Full Steam Ahead and DJ Play That Song.  I took a photo with the base coat and then with The More The Merrier because I like how the two bottles brought out different aspects of color in the design.
The first picture has the base more color accurate.  The second was taken with different lighting and turns a tad more blue than in real life.

The Nail Challenge Collaborative-Neon Polka Dots

I am going to try and juggle three challenges for a few months.  Since I was away in NYC over the weekend, I am combining two together.  The NCC is doing neon manicures and my Facebook group ECOPOLO has weekly themes.  This week was yellow polka dot bikini.  So this is for both.  The base is Illamasqua Scorch and the dots are Collide and Rare.
